Your preferred piece of web creation software :)

I use notepad.
I used to use macromedia dreamweaver a while back..but i really do prefer just using notepad. I hard code my entire site.
(and guessing that you ARE talking about the actual code of the site, I will move this to coding -- if you aren't, let us know, someone will move it back)

I use Dreamweaver. I can simply use notepad but it takes too much time...

It is a little more visually inclined...but you can say how you code your sites too.

I use Dreamweaver to make my crappy sites.

photshop, image ready, notepad, aceHTML, frontpage.
frontpage.
That thing loads heaps of code into websites, it slows down the loading time by something like 30%, they tested it on some site, wish i could remeber the URL, it would be good, but why have 2 pages of code when you can have half a page? :?

frontpage is good for newbies who want to do some dumb dhtml effects..

You calling Threeboy a newbie! You sacrilegious bastard!
There are ways to clean up frontpage code in notepad you people know? I actually think anyone who can use frontpage now must be hardcore, because I would have no clue at all.

Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Notepad (For manual quick edits, especially when testing php scripts!!)
Photoshop, dreamweaver, sometimes fireworks, copy/paste, imageready and other stuff
pacman

I use ConText and Dreamweaver together to create things quick and optimized.
I personally use dreamweaver.
It's just good :>
And Devil - FrontPage is for dudes that don't know HTML or it's basic stuff and use FrontPage cuz it's easy and they can do some effects as you mention.

used to use macromedia dreamweaver but now use front page mainly because of it allowing you to put in inline frames.
I still use macromedia for flash, use flash 5 though. MX seems the same but all the buttons moved about 8O
Also learning photoshop 6 - is 7 much better? (or worth the extra loot?)
Liquor_Riss

I have 6, I think 7 is more visually pleasing though :D
Also I have just purloined a copy of Dreamweaver which is hoolio :)

I use frontpage occasionally for CONTENT PAGES. Plain HTML stuff that's too annoying to code in manually. Most of the content is php included into the design anyway. If you're smart you can use frontpage with good results.

Dreamweaver, Fireworks, PHPedit, notepad, wordpad, jed/joe, vim.
wouldn't touch frontpage with a 10" pole (unless the pole was aimed at the uninstall button)

I use Photoshop to create the pages, then imageready for any imagemaps, then i cut the images up and put them into html with CuteHTML

1st Page, Photoshop and 3d Studio MAX

max is an interesting tool to use for web site design - that said, i'm guilty of doing so also :)
with the right approach and maybe a little VRML you could churn out something quite shiny - i guess.

I use Dreamweaver MX and Photoshop 7, occasionaly I'll use Golive 6.
:?: Stupid question :?: - what is Imageready used for; I don't know what to do with it. lol.
I use paint shop pro 8, frontpage, flash mx. and notpad.
ive never even seen photoshop :s i would liekto try it one day.

Rollover animations, imagemaps and suchlike. Basically just nice link effects :D
Chaosego
07-20-2003, 03:14 PM
I can do that stuff in Dreamweaver, and Fireworks...
Still I would like to give Imageready a try.

ImageReady is useful if you are making the graphics in Photoshop, as they are both made by Adobe, and so are configured to work in conjunction with each other.

I usually use Notepad. I tried Dreamweaver MX but spent more time in the code view fixing the "helpful" things it kept adding itself
It kept getting a rush of blood to the head and before I knew it my page layout looked like a herd of angry elephants had stampeded through, pausing momentarily to urinate on the menu i'd spent so much time on....
A friend of mine uses a program called Hotdog Jnr, it's for real n00bs lol

I wonder if anyone uses Netscape Composer :D

frames are powerful, but tables are more powerful.
notepad, biatches. and yes, I code all my images pixel by pixel in notepad too.

hell yeah. i do the same thing.
although i was thinking about using a program for a bit, that way i knew what line i was on when doing php/mySQL stuff
but eh, i've managed without it so far, right :P

just type the line numbers in, then edit them out when done :D

if somone gets to your site thru a search engine, and your site uses frames, they'll likely hit a content page that's supposed to go inside frames, so that's pretty lame.
tables are better for adviews.

Notepad is sufficient for my need. For example: http://chrisv.orcon.net.nz/

The best combo ever!
Paintshop and notepad!
Or if you want to go hardcore. Use MS Word instead of notepad.
On a serious note. DONT USE DREAMWEAVER OR ANY GUI PROGRAMS!
Seriously mr designers out there. It may be mad easy but its a COMPLETE BITCH for programmers. After you designers finish your snappy dreamweaver pages and feed them to the programmer, we have to comb through the shittiest HTML ever assembled to insert the interactive cool crap.
I HAVE SPENT HOURS OF TIME just cleaning up crappy Dreamweaver code that could of been used actually making web programs.
SileNceR
08-02-2003, 01:42 AM
Personally from a programming viewpoint I'd rather use dreamweaver's code than frontpage's however ;)
drake
08-02-2003, 10:07 AM
LOL that is definitely a truth there. Dreamweaver indents but like I said, you are always gonna be hated in any programmers eyes if you use any GUI HTML Editor. Its just not cool and it pisses us off. It will also make it harder for you as a designer to get programmers who want to work with you on projects which ultimately makes it harder for you to find work.

tables are better for adviews.I agree, tables are a far more professional way to do your page layout and much more search engine friendly.

please dont bite me, but...
i use frontpage
and yes.. lesson one is use what your comfortable with.. and surprisingly, i use frontpage.. :P
(note pad makes me dizzy..its black and white.. frontpage html editor has colors..)

Yeah I can notice that you use FP since your page is all buggy in 1600X1200.

phpedit has colors too. ditch frontpage, and use phpedit (and yes, it works for html; not just php. works for java too)
and you can customise all the colors used.
