Hello :)

Before anyone starts ;) , I HAVE read through other threads on here about making spray tags and transparency issues. However, I cannot get spays to come out transparent in CS no matter what. I was originally using a spray maker other than Wally (DecalConverter v1.3) but have since dowloaded Wally as thats what people on here seem to be using. I am using Paintshop Pro 7 to create my images.

I do NOT have any problem in making up images and using them as spays. I just cannot get them to come out with a transparent background. I have tried setting the background colour as transparent in Paint Shop Pro when opening a new file. I have tried setting the bottom right colour in the pallette to 0,0,255 in both Paint Shop Pro and in Wally (could someone please explain the reason for doing this?). I have followed every link I can including this one:

http://www.threeboy.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1018

I know the following link is not from this site ;) , but it is a good link all the same:

http://www.counterspray.com/makeyourown.htm

The above seems a real idiots guide but even so, having followed it to the letter I still cannot make sprays that have transparent backgrounds :(

I appreciate that to many of the experienced contributers on this board you may get irritated with "n00bs" like me, and may be tempted to dismiss me with "do a search" or "its all in this link.....", but I really have tried everything.

Having said that, I am obviously doing something wrong but I just dont know :(

If any of you could take the time to post some help or any info I would be very gratefull

After all, its only easy if you know the answer ;) :o

Cheers

:(

Ive done that m8

Do you have to set the background colour to pure blue as well? What is the reason for setting the last colour on the pallete to blue?

Thanks

yes, everything you want transparent has to be pure blue, and you have to make sure that the pure blue you paint the background is the last color in the pallete.

RGB 0, 0, 255

0 RED
0 GREN
255 BLUE

Make sure you're in rgb mode too.

and make sure when you're in wally that the color is indeed

RGB 0, 0, 255

0 RED
0 GREN
255 BLUE
and is indeed the last goddamn color in the palete :P

OR just use the built in wizard in wally.

Hello again ;)

Thanks for the replies.

Can someone just confirm the following:

1: Do you have to limit the pallete used for your spray to 16 colours?
This is the only way to enable the "edit palette" icon to be accessed in paint shop pro

2: When editing the pure blue colour in the palette, Paint Shop Pro lists three different pallettes (palette, hue and another what I cant remember just now  ) Which one do you have to edit with the pure blue as the last colour?

3: Can you just edit the pure blue in Wally, or do you have do do it in Paint Shop Pro AND Wally?

Thanks Agin for the replies

Cheers :D

1. No, it can be 256 Colors.

2. Fuck paint shop pro, the colors will get downsampled in wally anyway, focus on the wally pallette that's all that counts.

3. Just wally.

Hell Again

I know you must have had a gutfull of me already  , but I've been trying and I cant get it to work.

Please dont give up on me :D  :D

When you save it in Wally, do you have to use one of those prefixes it lists? One IS for transparency, others are for water etc. I have tried every combination possible. I have tried 16 colours, 256 colours, editing the Pallete in Wally, editing it in Paint Shop Pro, editing it in both, saving it with the transparency prefix symbol({), saving it without.

Where exactly in this process am I supposed to specify I want a transparent background? Do you actually tick a box or something?

Every time I go into CS my spray comes out with a total blue background.

Please, please, please, please can you help me :? :? . I know its a lot to ask but could any one give me a total idiots guide with exact step by step instructions, without missing out ANYTHING?

I am so frustrated I am gonna pull all my hair out soon! 8O 8O 8O

I really appreciate your time and help

Thanks again :P

P.S. forgot to add, you save your original image as a .bmp file right? Not a .jpg or anything else?

there is no "checkbox" for transparent background. Just use pure blue and make sure that it's the last color in the pallete.

if you can't figure it out, USE THE WIZARD :)
