I don't use trillian, I use MSN Plus (Like a hacked version of it, to give me a few more options) and Miranda ICQ, which is a dubbed down version of ICQ, it uses a lot less system resources.

I use ICQ, AIM, MSN and Yahoo. Ive used Trillian and didnt like it because all the skins sucked and it was all my buds were mixed together.

I prefer AIM.

you should realy re-check on the skins. There are thousands of them out there. Some are really really good. So just go check them out, becuase TRILL RULES. WOO HOO :D

AIM+ is AIM with a bunch of other features, no ads, cloning, and what not, most people I know use AIM. So, this is good because I can talk to alot of people I know still, but not have all the annoying standard AIM features.

Skins: I just use the standard 'whistler' skin that comes with Trillian Pro - but i modded the icons and used some from the 'Aqua' skin, which is a mac theme one.

Sorry, you are all wrong. The best IM client out there is Proteus (http://www.indigofield.com/). Not only does it do AIM, MSN, ICQ, IRC, and YIM, it does Jabber and Gadu-Gadu.

I'm having a hard time understand why there is any debate. Currently Trillian Pro stands as the best messaging client out there, accornet to C-NET reviews etc., and GAIM and DeadAIM and great up and coming all-in-one messaging clients.

I mean, it's so 90's :) to even be using one of the original messaging clients, like aim, icq, msn, or yim; they lack the functionality of any of the all-in-one clients like Trillian, GAIM, or DeadAIM.

I just wanted to put my vote in for Trillian! Helps me keep in touch with all the non-AIM people (crazy people), and keeps me idle in my irc channel as well. All minimized in my system tray. And you gotta love the smilies!!!;)

Yes, I too vote for Trillian, although I switched to mIRC for IRC.

i use Trillian cuz my system can handle it. however, i hate how i have to either find a good skin that matches my theme or modify my current skin every time i change themes/desktops. i also like Miranda a lot. it barely uses any resources. i like it. i downloaded all of the various ports for it so i could talk to my msn and aim buddies. and so i could go in irc and receive rss. i used it for about a week. now i'm back to Trillian :P i just think it's better than all of the other hybrid messenger programs.
