I want to buy the MX500 Logitech mouse. But I've been looking at the MX700 cordless mouse as well. And sometimes the wire can get really annoying if it gets caught while I play CS. The only thing that stops me from buying the wireless mouse is... i'm skeptical. I'm afraid that even though both mice have the same technology and same level of quality, I believe that the wireless mouse will suffer in terms of accuracy and might skip if I move the mouse too fast.... all because it's wireless.

Am I wrong in that assumption? Am I just too old fashioned? Both mice are pretty expensive, and I'd be willing to get myself the MX700 if only I could be sure it doesn't skip. RIght now I have the Logitech Dual Optical MouseMan. And i noticed that it skips sometimes when I move my mouse really fast in CS. Stupid dual-sensor-BS-marketing-ploy!

Yeah, my brother bought a cordless mouse once and he did not like it one bit. He did a bunch of tests on it for games and said it was kinda screwed up and not nearly as good as the normal optical mouse with chord. I dont know anything speciffic, all I know is I dont think its a good choice if youre hardcore into games.

Moved to computing and technology, where it belongs.

woops sorry... i was thinking in terms of me using the mouse to play Counter-Strike and using the mouse in context of playing the video game, more so than just every day use or using it for other programs like Photoshop where fast movements are not common or useful, and thus skipping should not be an issue.

Ok I guess I should move it back if you mean it that way, because you were asking about a certain mouse. You people got me all confused today.

I have a wireless mouse/keyboard from microsoft. i dont get anyskips, but like all optical mouses i have tried wont work well on my steel desk like thing so i have to use my ugly mousepad... the only thing that bothered me at first was the mouse software and cs made the sensitivity a lot higher, but that was easily changed of course.

it may tack on $10-$20 but be sure to get a rechargeable battery set. I have 8 rechargeable AA's and only need 4 at a time, so i am never without batteries. but its not necessary... my mouse lasts about a month and my keyboard about 2 so its not like i am constantly changeing batteries..

hope that kind of helps...

well I just bought the MX700 wireless mouse. Thanks a lot guys! And about the rechargeable batteries, you guys should look into the MX700... it has a mouse recharging docking thing. So at night every once in a while, you can just put the mouse in the recharging dock that sits on your desk and it'll have a full charge in 2 hours!

I have the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 from Microsoft and it's the best mouse I've ever used, so I'd imagine the wireless would be just as good. I don't trust Logitech's shady "double laser" technology that has turned out to be a gimmick.

the wires dont bug me too much.

I *MAY* go wireless if I needed it, like if I were web surfing from a couch or something.

Wireless networking, now that's good shit.

My father is buying a wireless router so he can hook up his laptop from anywhere in the house. It'll be good fun.

Yea I just bought a wirless router for my parents and hooked up their network. Too bad my dad's laptop somehow didn't recognize the wireless NIC. :? So he's still hooked up to the router with a cable.

Btw, I ended up returning the MX700. It did seem to lag just a bit and it was too heavy for my tastes, but it tracked a lot better than my Dual Optical, which I am still using right now. Maybe the MX500 will do better.
