Grrr... it's so BIG. 8O See, I've got this lady-friend whom I like. Anyways, she lives in Winnepeg, I live in Edmonton. We talk on the phone A LOT but I know that will probably stop as soon as she gets her phone bill :( But yeah, I really wanna see her in person as well (did I mention shes bloody amazingly good looking as well) Oh yeah, we're also both in high school and unemployed (she wants to get a job at hooters, and believe me, shes got the requirements ;) ), so going on a little trip isn't really possible until the summer. The queen has no real power in Canada any more after Trudeau, and yes, that is the ONLY good thing he did for our country was to make Canada more sovereign. Canada ( KANATA) is, I think, Iroquois for "home," so it was sort of a combined effort on the naming of our wonderful country. My other question is why was this post resurected. ;) Oh and history is written by the winners, so the fact that the English "stole" Canada is irrelevant. I think it would be better to say that the English "won" Canada.

Well this thread is now all about on the old english empire, which once ruled quater of the globle :twisted: - and for a small island I think thats quite an achivement. But days of empire are over now and just as well - athough human advancment becomes greater it's paid for with your own human rights. Thank god we're not all part of the German 3rd empire or any russian empire that could have occured from the cold war if it went pear shaped.

If you think imperialism is over, you are sadly mistaken. It's done in a different way nowadays, but empires still exist. Take the USA for example, they have almost complete control over many poorer nations, which, if you looked it up in some obscure dictionary, I'm sure you'd find how similar the definitions are.

Well people say america but its more the way modern trade and economics work. America normally representing that as they are the most successful in the modern wealth of the world.

ie: poor countries that make coffee just sell off the beans and make fuck all money on it. However if they go into secondary production and grind it down to make instant coffee they can sell it for more.

So why dont they do this i hear u ask? :P(always wanted to write that) well its because if they go into instant coffee in secondary sector the west put taxes on them exporting it. In fact in 1991 we used to tax it 6 times.

Thats why their poor, not because their stupid or not business minded enough - but because of us because we're all evil. (well WE arnt but our leaders, and these sort of things normally make us understand why america has so much terrorism. Of course i dont agree with wot the terrorists do but in some areas they have a very good point)
