Yeah, it's alright. It's one of the few 5-Speed GT's made. Which is pretty cool
But I can't wait to get rid of it. Anyone that owns any year of a Grand Am knows that they have problems.
I'd get a new car now if I wasn't in college, but Toledo has terrible roads and just stupids kids that ding your doors..so it's not worth it right now.
Hopefully the car will last another 2 years.

Pepi
01-09-2005, 01:24 PM
Yeah, i changed my mind, it is special to me, but i think im getting it painted black, with halogen lights, and black upholstery.

Dakine
01-09-2005, 01:30 PM
Halogens probly are not what you would expect. If you are looking for the kind of lights on import cars like on bmw's, you wont be able to buy them. It is illegal to put them on cars that do not have them stock. You can get lights that are close but they are not the same nor are they as good. Plus they cost upwards of 1000-USD. I learned this when me and my friend went looking for some to put on his Hummer-H1. We ended up buying new bulbs that were not hallogens but they were clear-tint blubs. It was a step in the right direction and it was cheep, 45-USD per bulb.

Pepi
01-09-2005, 01:54 PM
I meant these lights, they're about 50 bucks a pop, so 100 total (http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/HighPerformance/Silverstar/default.htm)

Too bad there are no drivers ahead, street lights are so shitty here you might as well prop a torch on top of your car so you can see pedestrians

MulletMan
01-09-2005, 09:26 PM
Eh, I've got lights like that. In fact I think they're the same ones, but they only cost me 17 bucks each. Canadian. I haven't had any complaints and that picture there is somewhat of a dramatization but I think they look a hell of a lot better than just the standard lights. Even on a civic.

Budderfly
01-10-2005, 12:41 AM
Personally I hate driving ahead of cars with those fucking bright lights, I have to pull down my rearview so the glare isn't distracting me. They may look pretty and light up the street, but they're annoying. Get fog lights instead. The low level lights illuminate the road better and are friendlier on the eyes of other drivers.

rocket.
01-10-2005, 02:03 AM
Foglights are even worse, they are made for fog, so people should only use them in fog.

Jamblo
01-10-2005, 04:18 AM
Respraying a car costs a lot of money. Especially if it's not the original colour.

Budderfly
01-10-2005, 07:47 AM
Foglights are even worse, they are made for fog, so people should only use them in fog.

Low level fog lights are okay as they aren't directly in your eyes and they light up the road better... it's when people use their high beams especially those damn white highbeams lights. But yeah, obviously both shouldn't be used in regular driving conditions.

Where I live (Richmond BC), the foglights are great when you're making the early morning commute. We are below sea-level and when the 6:30am mist/fog rolls in, the foglights make a difference to your visability.

My point be a nice guy and get regular lights. The white ones a waste of money, they won't make your car any more spiffier and you'll have people like me waving at you with all five fingers. :p

Pepi
01-10-2005, 02:58 PM
Around here, the streetlights are shit, even if you sand right under them, you'll miss someone, and having shitty headlights is a big no-no, the only people whio create a pain tin the ass with very bright headlights are those people who have rae4lly high suspension bwcause then it comes straight in. But about he respraying

At maaco its 100 for a sedan, and mines a compact

Shamus
01-10-2005, 07:00 PM

You may hate fords.... but my car has been running fine for years now ive had it for 3 years now and had no problems
Yeah it goes pretty fast top speed ive been 140mph
I dont really like the brand new focus but ive seen the new turbo version of the brand new focus and its pretty nice ( 2.5litre ) not sure on top speed or 0-60 times but should be pretty fast
Not being big headed towards Fords but i never get why people hate fords, yeah i can agree some fords look old, rusty but you cant say they arent fast because many today stilll are fast take the fiesta rs turbo thats over 15years old now and can keep up with most of the mini hatchbacks e.g saxo's, corsa's ( anyways dont want to fight over what car is the better ) also ive been through the stage of " boy racer " well really never was on but the car i have is like its been black listed as one yeah i like to speed but not mad like most boy racers do.

OK, so when my car got keyed the professional at the dealership lied to me. He told me that if i got the scratches smoothed out and got a respray at a place like MAACO, it would peal in about a year starting at the windows and edges of the doors. Oh, I forgot he lied to me. All hail rocket.

Oh and pep, its not cheap... its about 4000. If you want enjoy shit quality like rocket then I suggest MAACO, otherwise leave the color or get it sanded and sprayed.

The company i have a problem with is GM.
Then you must understand my feelings... GM had a factory in my town, they were assembling Camaros and Firebirds... They closed the factory and completely destroyed it.

I know they are in big trouble economicly, but it just sucks for us too.

Pepi
05-22-2005, 07:00 AM
Yeah, they screwed everyone over with downsizing and what not, if you've ever seen Roger & Me youd get a good idea of what they did.

My other problem is the shotty construction, stylish looking cars with high horsepower are nice, but only if they can go past 150,000 miles. My 1993 honda civic went past 250,000 , my dad had a lot of GM cas in the past but nothing was like that honda.

Dakine

First of all, sorry i got off kind of fast b/c i was a little pissed off yesterday.

I went to 4 places, the Mercedes dealership, Service King, Trowel and Turner, and some other place.. I forgot the name. All of them told me the same about MAACO. The owners of Trowel and Turner are family friends and we have taken our cars to them for 20 years or so. They wouldn't lie to us. At the Mercedes dealership the salesman who helped us out is also a family friend. I have been going to school with his son for the past 6 years. He wouldn't lie to us either.

http://www.my3cents.com/search.cgi?criteria=Maaco

05-22-2005, 05:21 PM
I don't know what MAACO is, I'm guessing there is alot of them in America (like a chain?).

Here however, Panel Beaters etc do a really good job with touch-ups and resprays, that's why I said what I said.

I dont think you're in any position to be making fun of gay anythings, Dakine.

Jetta's are dope.
I was just saying that it has been declared the #1 gay car in the world. I'd go with the Audi A4 though..
Someone seems a little insecure with his heterosexuality.. mulletman *g*

http://www.gaywheels.com/reviews/index_files/Page337.htm ooh, its homo friendly!

Who fucking cares if a car is #1 gayest in the world or 'homo friendly', I mean really, come on it's just a car.

I'm picky about the car I drive. The car you drive is a representation of you.

Rolf

It's more a representation of how much money you have sitting around to spend on a car.

How so? You think people who drive beaters really don't care about their image or they have a trashy lifestyle? Do you think all people driving BMWs are classy? It does seem that everyone that pimps out their car are followers of trends, but is that really true? I think that a car is representative of your financial status to a very small degree and representative of your personality to an even smaller degree. I think a hairstyle is more representative of "you" than a car.

Usually when I like something it's because it performs a function very well, not because of how it affects my image.

Try reading (http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_9904_jetta/index2.html) something about that car, first. It's a lot nicer than most cars on the road, these days, including mine. :(

A French mazda-- who woulda thought? Looks awesome.

I just put an audio system in my car worth more than the car itself. Now that is smart.
