Personally, I think Plasmas are awesome. They're so clear and take up less room.

It's not that they don't last long, it's that you have to recharge them every 3 years. And the recharging generally costs about $1000.
I'd suggest a bigscreen due to cost factor.

Actually, after doing some quick reading, I guess the problem isn't as bad as when they first came available publically. I know when plasma screens were first consumerized, the gas they it burns would run low - and you'd have to get it recharged, but from what I just read -- it's more like 18 years now, heh.
Soooo, I guess a plasma isn't a bad choice if you really want to pay for it. So unless your bankin', I'd still just go with a high quality Big screen, instead of paying thousands for the plasma.

plasma does rule in quality, but the price point isn't great compared to a big screen hdtv right now.
