SpyBot - good app to clean & kill spyware...

my friend uses add ad-aware, is that any good? is that "free" or "free*" because "free*" usually means it isn't free.

nah, ad-aware is free (no star), that's what I've used in the past

I use a combination of the two. They seem to each be able to find stuff that the other doesn't.

I heard Ad-Aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy together is the best clean-up you can get.

I use Ad-aware. I ran it on my cousins computer after he had kazaa installed on it, and his computer was so slow that I increased it from probably P1-like speeds to where its sposed to be: P4. God damn spyware.

Yeah, I've been doing that too for the last 6 months or so. I love it! I htink SpyBot finds some AdAware components and claims they are spyware so you'll want to ignore those if you want both programs to work :)

Only because it quarantines the adware. If you clear it out, then it can't.
