Ok boys and girls, here's a little song I wrote, I'd really appreciate your comments/opinions. I know it's not very original, but it's my first song that I wrote by myself, so just bear with me.

Hey, that's not to shabby man.
You're music reminds much very much of the style my friend always plays. He is really into that sound.
He's been playing roughly 3-4 years I'd say. It's been a while since I have heard him play though, since we both went to college, i have only seen him once in 2 years :?

It's pretty Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced (download everything you can by him). Just a simple 12-bar blues thing.. and it's far from finished.

I like it, except for the beginning, kind of sounds like you might have messed up. I dont know, your the one who wrote it.
at 4 seconds and 7 and 8 seconds it sounds off, then later one it happens again

Yeah, I did mess up several times. I got sick of recording it over and over until it was perfect, so I just did the next best thing.
it was a little too epic for me, but that's just a personal preference.
though it clearly posesses talent, especially for a first timer such as yourself, slight improvement is necessary in the technique in which it's played.

Thanks for the comments boys and girls.
This version HERE (http://members.shaw.ca/alex_edlund/Music/acoust.mp3) is acoustic. Tell me which you like better.

I sort of prefer the acoustic version, its cleaner :)
the acoustic version sounds better because of improved technique, imho.

Haha yeah, that's the result of playing that song for about 3 hours straight. I'm using it as a speed excersize as well as a song, you see.

nice, I enjoyed that. What are you tuned to?
MulletMan
10-21-2003, 06:31 PM
Standard tuning, but it's a 12-string, so that's why it probably sounds different.

12-strings sound beautiful :D , ours needs to be repaired because the neck has bent due to the heat. Nice song :D

The heat? I thought you lived in England :P

I hear England is a damn humid place that is raining most of the days of the week. That is not a good environment for any wooden instrument. I pity your guitar. :(

Humid? No. Always raining? No. Crazy fucked up weather, so you never know what the next day will bring? Right on :D

I thought, being an island, England would be fairly humid.

The acoustic version is very nice indeed.
Technically it is a composition, not a song; as songs have words.
MulletMan

Big deal! :P

Sorry, it is being a law student. I spend too much time thinking about words and what they mean.

I always thought "song" was just a general term for any musical piece until I looked it up on www.dictionary.com where I find I was sadly mistaken :(

I have to say, it sounded very professional.
Nice job! :P

Did you just use a mic hooked up to your pc to record it or something else
?
MulletMan

Haha, I certainly did use a mic hooked up to my pc. But I used SoundForge to record it, and then I "normalized" it, otherwise you would have to majorly crank your speakers in order to hear it. I recommend SoundForge if you only have a mic to record with.
