As far as I can tell - it's Winamp 3, but at Winamp 2's speeds... I'm not terribly sure how they did that, but **schwing**!!

3s really not bad. I'd admit that 2 is faster, but, comeon, 5 more seconds to load isn't that much.

Winamp2 is the best mp3 player, imo.

It's not like those stupid badly-taking-memory-and-you-have-to-make-a-"library"-for-god-sakes-that's-stupid jukeboxes (RealOne, Musicmatch, and others..)

Yeah I've been running it on my slower computer, and it runs faster than my faster computer with winamp3, and believe it or not, as fast as winamp 2 on there. To note Devil's remarks about the "library" that really pissed me off in winamp 3, cause my library is a directory named "music," i never felt the need to create a whole library all over again. But if you do a custom install with winamp 5, just don't install the media library thing, and presto, it's just not there. The only problem i've hit is that a couple winamp 3 skins (usually older ones) don't work, or the background color in the playlist is the exact same color as the text. About 70% of the winamp 3 skins work great though (including MMD3) and every winamp 2 skin I've tried has worked. Definitely worth the 2 min install. I just hope they don't fuck it up between now and the final release.

i never downloaded winamp3 after i heard other people having problems with it. didn't want to deal with the crap.. after i saw you put up the link, i considered getting winamp5.. ..but.....still not completely sold on the idea. this involves more thought..:P
you guys realize that you can download this and then just uninstall if you don't like it right? It's like asking a girl out on a date, except I already told you she's hot, she easy, and you KNOW she isn't going to say no. She just might cry if you put her in certain outfits. I mean, most girls cry about SOMETHING, might as well be outfits.

Winamp3 has a "Media Library" accessory, but I don't use it. I'll use a playlist, thank you very much.

I just donwloaded it and the only thing that I really notice about it is that when you open it, it plays the playlist when you click play instead of forcing you to double-click a file from your playlist to start things off. That much I love. Plus it's cool cuz it's new.

ok i downloaded it yesterday. and it was fine. worked with most of the skins i got. the only problem came after a little though. it wouldn't open my skins that i had for winamp 2. so i uninstalled, reinstalled, and now it seems to be working fine...

yep, i just switched skins to make sure. ...so other than that, i've been having no problems:D

Zubaz: I downloaded it, and got the ever popular MMD3, but does the equalizer work for you...cause it just doesnt sound like it is doing anything for me :?

it works... sorta, are you talking about the actual equalizer or the knobs on the skin itself? I've never touched teh equalizer setting before, so I didn't know there was an issue. I can change some stuff, but those knobs are fucked up, but that's probably skin changing type of stuff. new/old compatibility that they haven't worked out yet.

Yeah. I think their are a few features that don't work. Anything equalizer wise...and then when you use the scroll wheel on your mouse to go through your playlist, it also turns you volume up and down..heh

So those are a few things that gotta be fixed with that one..

It doesn't have the one good feature in Winamp3, which was the ability to cue songs to play next. =/ Unless I missed something.

Ain't nothing on the winamp site about a winamp 5, you guys got yer virus checkers, trojan checkers and worm checkers all warmed up? I smell a rat. I'm not downloading it, no thanks, nope, no way, uh-uh, not gonna do it.

Lol, so many people I know have downloaded it, all have up-to-date anti-virus software, and none of them have gotten viruses. Just a little though for you to ponder...

Well, I'll still pass. Since there's no word from WinAmp about it at all, chances are it's not really a planned release if it's from them at all. WinAmp3 doesn't give me any real problems so, I'll stick with that for now.

man i must say 2 is teh best one, is fast and cool, 3 is way too slow (i have a p2 celeron with 92 ram so go figure) plus is like big and takes too long to load songs and stuffs, plus is the same thigns, just that 2 is more simple

But also I'd like to make a note. Just because someone is playing an artist's song in their MP3 player. It by far doesn't mean that they downloaded the song.
