Which songs would you have as part of a soundtrack to your life, if it were to be made into a film? E.g. a song that conveys how you feel at a major crossroads in your life, a song for when you're sad etc etc.

If this thread's getting reanimated, I guess I should re-do my list :)

You're a fucking genius man - that's the best topic started since I joined these forums. I'll edit mine in here once I've figured it out.

Well, this will take a lot of thought. One really shouldn't list too many tracks since these should be the top 15 or so songs one relates to. I'll just keep editing this post as I think of them.

In no particular order:

Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack - Jack's Lament
Ok Go - Hello, My Treacherous Friends
Blind Melon - No Rain
Blur - Chemical World
Good Will Hunting Soundtrack - Main Titles
Cat Stevens - Where Do The Children Play?
Faith No More - Midnight Cowboy
Mozart - Requiem (yes, the whole thing)
The Doors - Wishful Sinful
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Beastie Boys - Bodhisattva Vow
Pink Floyd - Welcome to the Machine
Radiohead - Creep
Beethoven - 9th Symphony (Choral)
The Stranglers - Golden Brown
Donnie Darko Soundtrack (Gary Jules) - Mad World
Donnie Darko Soundtrack (Michael Andrews) - Waltz in the 4th Dimension

No doubt this will change as I think of replacements.

Wicked ass thread. I can barely think of songs that reflect points in my life. Ill try to edit this post as much as I can with better stuff. Good choices chesh, I love them.
My list is in no way in order... yet. Im thinking either chronologically, or I'll watch the movie High Fidelity again, and learn from John Cussack (however its spelled.)

Blue Rodeo - Five Days In May
Blue Rodeo - Bad Timing
The Doors - People are Strange
Neil Young - Cowgirl In the Sand
Led Zeppelin - Tangerine
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Blind Melon - No Rain
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life By the Drop
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Someday Never Comes
Cat Stevens - Father and Son
Cat Stevens - Wild World
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Eagles - Desperado
I've gone soft over the years of music-listening

Excellent topic, tough choices though. It'd be a real mishmash of different stuff...

Carl Orff's O Fortuna from Carmina Burana would have to be in there, it'd be cliched but so what? Saint Seans 3rd Symphony, 3rd movement (the organ part) would also be in there. A few other classical pieces too, Les Preludes by Liszt and maybe Holst's Planets, Mars. But as for the more popular stuff... That'd be tougher. Probably include this stuff.

Aerosmith: Dream On, Seasons of Wither & Same Old Song & Dance

NIN: The Frail & The Wreched from The Fragile CD and Something I can Never Have from Pretty Hate Machine

Rob Zombie/White Zombie: Thunderkiss '65 (For my birth scene of course, I was born in '65), Demon Speeding, House of 1000 Corpses (Don't ask, I know where it'd fit in but I ain't tellin')

Stevie Ray Vaughn: Life Without You

Doobie Brothers: Long Train Running

Live: Century, TBD, Lightning Crashes

Pat Benatar: Hell is for Children, Wutheing Heights

Drowning Pool: Bodies

Edgar Winter Group: Frankenstein

"Cry Little Sister" from the Lost Boys Soundtrack

Queen & David Bowie: Under Pressure

Jaco Pastorius: Portrait of Tracy

Bill Evans: affinity

Ottmar Liebert: Snakecharmer

Damn, I could go on like this for a while, but that's some of 'em.

I think that's the idea.

yeah but if i'm not in a sad mood, it's hard to say what song i'd want for the sad times... so it goes the same for all my moods. if i'm in a shitty mood, i won't feel like choosing a happy song, and even if i did, i wouldn't be able to choose a song that might really depict how i'm feeling since i wouldn't feel that way at the time........

err..make sense?

So update your list for every different mood your in. When your sad, add a sad song. When your happy, add a happy song. You get the picture?
