Yeah. This is already my 3rd week here.
My 'Digital Logic' professor totally sucks ass, yet somehow he managed to graduate and get his doctorate from Cal Tech. :?
I hate that ass.

Had some problems with scheduling but got those worked out. The one thing I can't complain about this semester is the fact that I Haven't had a paper to write at all. Which is great, because last year during both semesters, I always had like 2-3 papers a week to write.

It's good to be done with that shit, for now at least.

Arch 201: Studio = not bad but lots of work.
Arch 432: Environment Containment Systems = interesting, but lots of work.
Arch: 324: Arch History (Renaissance-1900) = boring with a huge paper.
Anth 309: Cultural Ecology = boring as HELL.
Phil: 370: Environmental Ethics = fun and easy.

I guess it's all balanced between fun and crappy. Studio is where I get to design structures and make models, but that crap takes a long time. I do miss summer already.

Well, we have schools in this order:

Preschool: basically daycare.
Kindergarden: transition into school.
Gradeschool: basics in English and Math.
Middleschool same as Gradeschool basically.
Jr. High: transition to HS.
High School: bunch of bull.

From there you can go to:

Trade School: learn a trade.
Community College: low-income higher education (not quality).
University: professional school where the big kids play.

That's my experience anyway (I went to all but trade school and Jr. high). I really don't think it's too different from other "Western" schools. Honestly, I have no idea why I wrote this stuff, but you asked :).

Thanks :) Here we have Playschool (Preschool), Infants school (covers Kindergarden and Gradeschool), Primary school (Middleschool and Jr. high), Secondary school (High school) then you can either get an apprenticeship (Trade school), drop the whole school thing or go to College. After College(which stops at 18), then you can go to University, which is basically like colleges in the US :) Also we can start drinking legally at 18, meaning you can become a drunken student right from the start of Uni. Woo! :P

- preschool (1 year, just to get in the beat)
- primary school (6 years, basic math, french, english)
- secondary school (5 years, similar to your high schools)
- college (between 2 and 3 years, depending if you want to go to university)
- University.. kinda the same thing for everyone on earth..

We have the right to not to go to school at 16.
We can go to a professional study school (Trade school, right ?) after secondary school.

fuck beans. I go to school for 3 hours, sit in front of a computer, and learn about nouns and how to correctly punctuate... again. When the teacher gave me my assignments he said "I noticed you got an 11 on your english part of the placement test, so im sorry you have to go through this again" :| 11 is pretty concedering I only have to get a 5 to make it in to the PRIDE program heh. EDIT: The minimum entrance requirement to engineering at the UofA is 80% but it's still competitive, so you best have 85% if youre to have any hope of getting in. :rolleyes:

The same thing happened to me last week! My prof told me she loved my design, but when we had a guest crit, she didn't tell him what the assignment was and he butchered 12 of the 15 students getting the crit (myself included). It wasn't that he was an asshole, but he had no clue what we were attempting.

My civics class is fucking stupid. My teacher gives the class a few work sheets per day to do at home. It's like, fuck you! I don't do them so I seriously haven't learned anything in that class. People just get up and go talk to their friends or just walk out. He just stands up at the front of the room doing nothing at all.

Thursday, I stood up out of my seat and he kicked me out of class. Then he came out and told me to go to the office. I sat in the detention hour for the rest of the hour. The secretary forgot about me, so I missed my study hall. Which is was just great because then I had a shit load of homework. Thanks a lot!

School Budget Cuts are fucking stupid. They cut all the good teachers instead of the dumbass ones (civics teacher). If my class hasn't learned anything in his class at all, wouldn't you say he's a pretty damn teacher?

And then people wonder why my grades are dropping. I'll tell you why, it's because:


1. My teachers never help me. I ask for help and they tell me to go to my seat. It's like, this is school, you are suppose to teach me!
2. I swear my memory is going to shit. At the end of the day I can't remember what books I need, so usually I grab the wrong ones or I just forget a few.
3. Some people think it's real funny to mess with my shit. Whenever I hand something in, they take it out, copy all the answers, and then throw my paper away. Either that or they just steal my books. This is what usually happens: people messing with my shit gets me angry, I get up, ask for them back, they don't give them back, I start kicking their ass, the teacher walks over, sends me to the office, and I get a shit load of bitching.
4. I can't concentrate. If a teacher goes into some big long talk on how to do something, I start to get bored, which makes me want to sleep. Just keep it short and simple.
5. Since the teachers think it's cool to complicate things by going on and on, they waste my class time. They give me probably about 5 minutes to do the assignment. This is every class, so I get a whole shit load of homework and I can only do so much.
I wish I was home schooled. Whenever I'm sick and do my homework at home, I can get done with it in 2-3 hours. Why is this some people ask. Well, it's because I am comfortable, I don't go into an hour lecture, I work at my own pace, and nobody messes with my shit.

I want to go to a different school.
