*heh*
From a Crative Jukebox to a Rio Riot to a iPod, I still prefer the Creative that I bought 3 years ago because Crative Playcenter IS THE BEST MOTHER FUCKING MANAGAMENT SOFTWAREEVER MADE...
Rio Riot was pure crap... big, slow, unusable management software (RealOne Player, PURE CRAP I SWEAR !!!)
Ipod is in the middle, it's reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally small, veeeeeeeeeeeery fast, but again, crappy management software (Musicmatch)
on both players (iPod and Rio riot) we can't edit a song's name and ID3 tag and can't create playlist... DEATH TO REALONE PLAYER AND MUSICMATCH
Now I don't know if this thread should be in Rant.

I've had an iPod for about 2 months. The only thing I hate about Misicmatch is that it is so damn RAM hungry. You should know that you can edit track tags before putting your music on the player. It's not really a problem since the connection via USB 2.0 or firewire is pretty quick and you can change settings pretty damn easily.
I love my iPod.

www.iriver.com - I got the SlimX 350 - as long as you have a CD Burner, this is perfect. Management software is whatever you want to burn things with, you just burn your mp3s to a CD, and put it in. Does ID3 tags and all as well as a reallly good interface for looking through your library.

the problem is that I have 40 CDs full of mp3s... I don't want to take them all and change CD each time I want to hear a song.. hard drive mp3 players was the answer for my problem...
Chesh, herm, that's fricking dumb, I don't use Musicmatch as a library, I put my songs from the directory to my iPod directly.. programs such as Musicmatch and Realone Player will stay crappy in my mind...
with Creative Playcenter you can edit everything on a song that is on the player... the only problem is that it's for Creative products only... bummer

That's why God made CDRWs, you can have a cd with the 150 or so songs you're listening to and switch it up whenever you want.

Not to mention the new discmands with MP3 playing technology. I'm getting one next week. A full 650 megs worth of songs instead of 60 minutes.

Xplay pretty saved things.. Now it's easier to manage the files on the device, but it's still difficult to change the ID3 tags..

So um... this iPod, it's a mp3 player, no?
Speaking of which, I wouldnt use one if I bought it. I'm thinking of just buying a nice deck for my car that can play CDRWs with mp3s on them, then I'll be set.

Yea, What else do you have for your car sounds, MulletMan??
ipod... creative... pfawgh!!! Trash!
Archos! Built like a F'N tank from hell, works perfectly right out of the box, NOT MADE BY APPLE (thank god)...
My dad's got a 60gb Nomad III, as far as I'm concerned, it's a piece of crap. I could punt my Archos 50 yards and it'd look at me and say "So? What's your problem asshole" but if I dare to put the Nomad down too hard it'll die a quick death because it's built like crap. As for the iPod... It's Apple, nothing more needs to be said. Overpriced POS. But that's just my opinion.

Your opinion based on what? Never owning an iPod is probably not sufficient experience to call it a piece of trash. I love my iPod. Of course, I don't judge an mp3 player by how far I can "punt" it. But that's just my opinion.
I judge portable devices based on several criteria. One of them is definatly sturdiness. But I was referring to the Creative Nomad, not the iPod in that case. I just said the iPod was, like all Apple products, overpriced.
And what difference does where I live make? The Archos is made in China, just like most other stuff these days. Slave labor is cheap.

Smitty - do you remember the war we just had in Iraq? Well ,the French refused to support the U.S. in their military actions there and, therefore, people in the States have generally held a bit of resent towards the French ("freedom fries", "freedom toast", freeedom kisses", etc.). I think that Brentech was pointing out that you live in the U.S and you bought something designed in France.

I got my sister one for her birthday, 'tis schwee 8)
Uhhh... Yeah, well, I didn't go into the store and say "By the way, where is this MP3 Jukebox from? Oh? France? Well fuck it, I don't want it then and you shouldn't be selling it". Besides which, what the French Government does and what a French owned company do are different matters. And hell, to this date I don't know the thing comes out of France, it says "Made in China" on it, where do you find it's made in France? <Shrug> I bet you don't own a darned thing French, right?
Look, I didn't buy the thing based on politics, I bought it based on quality. If the French are making a higher quality MP3 jukebox, well, not my fault. :)

What a shame... I pity the wit challenged.
