Million Dollar Question, or well I think it is.

My good friend sold me a computer, and I was curious as to if I could change the registration bla of the actual computer itself. It was completely legal, so I'm not asking you to guide me in doing anything illegal. If anyone can assist me I would appreciate it. The computer is running xp home edition, and is fairly new. I have acces to everything on the computer, so that is not a problem either.

One more question: Why does xp continue to say that a file is Read-Only despite the fact that I unchecked the box besided Read-Only seconds before? And what is the difference between the check mark, and the green filling of the Read-Only box?

Sorry if these are really stupid questions, but I gotta learn somewhere :D

Are you logged in as an Administrator? I know with Home you can be a) Admin, b) User and c) Guest. You want a. Im not sure if thats what could be wrong, I've never had that problem myself, but its an option.

It works the same way for Windows XP. If you don't know how to get into Registry Editor, go to Start->Run and type in 'regedit'. All changes take effect immediately in registry editing, so no saving before exiting required.
