Anything currently on the charts goes down well with the ladies...
justin timberlake - rock your body
and any dance remixes of popular songs, and maybe a few classics (like pras - ghetto superstar) should get things going

Hey Joe isnt really a party music type song. If you're thinking Jimi, Purple Haze would work, as would Voodoo Child and All Along the Watchtower. Hey Joe is more mellow.
Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music

Led Zeppelin - D'yer Mak'er (the ladies love this song)
Led Zeppelin - The Crunge (probably most party-like)
Led Zeppelin - No Quarter (slower, but so good)
Led Zeppelin - Rain Song (this one's for the end)
These are all from the album Houses of the Holy, which would be perfect for a party, led zep style.
