The heads look a bit too plastic, and the writing along the edges detracts from the wallpaper. Also shouldn't the '....' be a '?' ? I believe this was brought up in the other thread about your wallpaper, so I thought I'd remind you ;) The Alien Nation looks cool though, as does the background grid :)

It seems a bit odd how the grids behind the alien heads are both the exact same, maybe you could randomize them a little bit?

MMM ya Will has a point.
Anyways it makes me think of alienware invading us with expensive computers that aren't worth the cost. Maybe its just me...

1) Will has a good point about the grids.
2) It's kind of hard to read "Alien Nation"
3) Why put the version numbers on each wallpaper?
4) "..." --> "?"
5) Nice job, once again. :D

I like it... but I think the grids are too tall, perhaps fade them out a little earlier?

Correct.

I like how the grids are too tall since it creates vertical elements that combine with teh horizontal text and the stuff at the bottom to make it more griddy (if thats not a word, I am assuming ownership on it :D ).

actually at a second glance maybe they aren't too bad... i'm assuming the text saying version 3 will be gone in the final ver of the wallpaper?

I actually think it might look better if it weren't so symmetrical. That's just my two cents though.

I like the fire type effect that I assume is what forms the shape of the grids, perhaps use a different flame to structure one side?
perhaps the symmetry holds it together tho.. im not sure how well it will work if you do this...
the left head looks darker than the other. i like that, but it seems to disrupt the symetrics you were going for. http://tribalwar.homelan.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug03.gif
I'd say that, on the downside, it's too linear and symmetrical. Maybe have the heads at different points on the vertical and have the grids be of different shapes. Then maybe place some lighter points in the grid, sort of like flashpoints. Just with a lighter shade of blue here and there about the grids. The text is a bit hard to read but, maybe if you did another layer of text in black in front of that it might look interesting. And yea, it should be "?" instead of "...". Or maybe "...?" ? :)
Other than that, tis cool. It has a feel and that's important. Unusual to choose blue over green for the aliens, or even gray. Hmmm...
rocket.

Umm, These threads are kinda old... Just pointing out that fact because it is annoying seeing something you saw 1 month ago. :?

It helps me so go ahead and tell me what you think.
I apreciate it.
thanx:)
I just read the first 5 or 6 threads, if they were really that old then the threads would be way down the list. So they can't be THAT old. Right? I didn't bother to check the date of the latest post, but, well, whatever, like the guy said, if its helpfup what's the problemo? :)

The threads not that far down the list because the Desktops forum isn't exactly inundated with new threads every day ;)

yeah that's right
Well that ain't my fault. Yeesh, you don't HAVE to read all the threads, nobody's got a gun to your head... Do they? If so, I know you can't say so, just indicate by nodding your head, I've got good binoculars.

yeah yeah i made ONE typo. no one's perfect. ...and don't go "except for me" or anything cuz no one is.
..anyway, yeah i don't know, i've been taught that symmetry's bad in all my classes.
rocket.
11-15-2003, 12:11 AM
Classes for what exactly, some styles of architecture or art require symmetry to make them what they are, I'm not trying to exclude you, just pointing out the fact that if you post like that again i will probably skip it because it becomes too much of an effort to read. ;)
kkomafo
11-16-2003, 06:51 PM
...classes for architecture. :P ...cuz it like...prevents people from learning more and exploring more possibilities...

11-17-2003, 08:18 AM
What about all classical, gothic, Georgian, Victorian, etc. architecture? Would your teachers call it all crap? ;)
kkomafo
11-17-2003, 09:32 PM
no, i'm not saying anything that has symmetry is crap. but for architecture that's coming out now and for the stuff we're supposed to make, we're not supposed to use symmetry. yes, symmetry is used a lot, and no, it's not always bad. but i was just saying that for the wallpaper, i didn't feel it made it better. ..and often times, when it comes to art-related things, art that's created now does not encourage symmetry.
take into consideration, also, that this is with my experience. hell, you might have professors or people who tell you symmetry is great for art and to use it all the time. but i've been taught not to work with symmetry. ..and as of now, i understand why they don't want us to work with it..and personally (so far) don't like to work with it.
