Yeah, i dont like the blue you used

I like it. Maybe change the blue lines/gecko to a slightly different color? They seem to distract your eyes from the coolness of the colorful border. :)
Maybe a less saturated blue?

If it WERE a placemat, I would eat off of it. I'm not sure I'd want it as my personal placemat, but I would eat off of it without any hesitation.

#1: That's not tan. It's orange.
#2: I like it and I may sound the fool for saying this but shouldn't the "..." be a "?"
#3: I think that a toned-down blue would be cool for the border lines.
#4: Kickass.

I don't know that I like the combination of colors... they don't mix too well....
perhaps that's just my eyes being sensitive... but it hurts.

Didn't mean to make your eyes hurt.
I think maybe my screen is too dark or something:rolleyes:

This guy just doesnt know what he's talkin about :P I think the colors go very well together. ;)

certain colours just don't work together... if you've done any art subjects at school etc, you will probably have been told this (albeit you also probably didn't listen)... I don't know wether these specifically are colours not reccomended for use together... but it's kinda like blue on red or vice versa...

Well, blue and orange usually look pretty good together (they're complimentary), but I think the problem is that the blue in this case is really bright and the orange is almost a neutral color. Blue and red work okay together, but they're better when you add in some yellow too (triadic colors). If you don't know anything about color theory and you actually care ;), head over to liquisoft (www.liquisoft.com) and check out the section on it there. Plus, Ryan Ford is a really good designer and he's made some really cool wallpapers.

How about we go by, "if it looks good to you, then its good" instead of this color theory garbage. And it looks good to me, so that must mean its good.
SileNceR

and it hurts my eyes... so that must mean it's not good...
that solution really works well

Whether you like something or not is individual. You can dislike it all you want, but the majority of people like it so... yeah.

08-14-2003, 12:16 AM
I'm just saying that I don't think the particular blue and orange tones he is using work well together...
not that I don't like it.
I think it would be better if the blue weren't so aquamarine..
personal opinion, yes; saying that I dont like the image, I am not.

The "I don't agree so it's garbage" attitude is helpful :). Color theory has been used successfully by designers for many years. It's not just something that was made up last week. You're right, though. Everybody's opinions are their own, so why ask for them then? ;)
Lunatique asked for opinions right? I helps when one explains why they like or dislike something. There's no reason to bash other people's opinions just because you diagree :?

Ok patience please!
Actually, the colors are pretty much perfect for that particular composition. If you added a little metallic silver and or copper in the form of objcets like you'd find in other Southwestern motifs it'd flesh it out a bit. The colors you used (orangeish sand with turquoise) are quite appropriate I think. The gradient however, might look better if it were a rainbow effect, like one of those Mexican blankets that I can't remember the name of. :) But, I think it's a nice image, it gets the effect you were going for I believe...
Here's what I'm basically saying. Something like this perhaps...

I kinda liked Lunatique's original version, to be quite honest.
Lunatique's my dushi. ;) If you can tell me what that means, I'll be unbelievably impressed.
Hmm, it's part of the Aruban national anthem, it has meanings in Turkish, Russian and Hebrew and it also seems to have something to do with S&M. I'm afraid to guess at which one you're referring to.
Anyway, it was just a suggestion, to push it more towards the edge of that southwestern motif.

Try a wonderful language from a little island called Curacao.
Can't seem to find an actual definition for it, references to "Dushi Diving" and the closest thing was that it just means something good. <shrug>... But judging from the context you're using it in, I'd figure it's roughly analgous to muff diving.

09-19-2003, 01:47 PM
Haha nope. Papiamentu is the language (somethin like that). I dont speak it, I just know two words in it... ;)
Well, let the darned cat out of the bag already... You pookie! :)

And yes they also speak it in Aruba.
it's the island close to my Island Curacao.
Well anyways back to the topic.
I'm impressed, I realy am.
Thanx smitty ;)
Well, that's just an indication, not a redo, I'd recommend using better content than I slapped in there. That was like a 5 minute touchup to just show my thoughts on it.
You live on Curaco? That's cool! Must be beautiful there.

Well this is like a b-day present for someone,
Like always I'm using this weird color(hope you guys like it)
But I wanted to ask what you think about it and what should I put in that empy space there.
The final version has a messege in dutch on it. But what else do you guys think I can put there to make it look nicer?!
Thanx!!;)

And what about the color?!
MulletMan
09-25-2003, 08:30 PM
I wouldn't put it as MY desktop because the birthday present is for someone else. But yeah, if it was the 26th of September I would. And the color is perfect, its one of thsoe colors I think of when I think of Curacao. Of course I dont really know much about Curacao, but thats just what I think of ok!? ;):P

Ok thanx for ur coment

I really like that a lot Lunatique... I'd leave it be, adding anything to it would detract from the simple beauty of it. And hey, today is my partner's birthday too. :) Cool.

Happy B-day to him :D
And thanx 4 the coment smitty.
You did not say anything about the color so I guess you like it.
Hey I was wondering, How old are you?!
I'm 38...
I like the color, but, to me, color is about how you use it, so it's not like I'm likely to say I don't like a certain color, they're all good when used right. Whenever people ask my favorite color I just can't give an answer.
Tell me, how did you get that grid pattern like that, I don't imagine you did it by hand did you? It looks nice, very subtle.

While I understand hesitating to pick a favorite color, I think its easy to say whether or not I like one more than another. True, colors look better or worse depending on how they're used, but the color itself is something more objective. Imagine the difference between seeing a paint sample color and that color on a wall next to other colors. It's very different.
I hate the color pink (not because it's girly), but I'm sure it can be used in a situation where I might like it. I like blue (steel blue especially) and I think I am more likely to accept things using blue or green easier than things using pink. There's a huge difference between hating a color and hating the way it looks in certain situations.
The moral: Smitty should choose a favorite color. :D
Ohhh, you pose such a good case but I still refuse. I will admit that in certain situations I don't like a color. For instance, I don't like pink walls in a room most of the time or I wouldn't want to see a room painted a flat brown color either. But those could be made to work if done right. Yes, I do have color choices for certain things. For instance, if I could own any car it'd be a '57 Chevy, Candy Apple Red with a white ragtop and red & white interior. So in that way I have color preferences but, I don't really have a "favorite color", honestly. Lets just say, hmm, black, there, black is my favorite color. :P
Lunatique
09-27-2003, 08:37 PM
There you go, now he has a favorite color.
I used to have my room painted pink but I hated it so much.
So I changed it. (now it's yellow)
So In that case I hated it but it can be usefull in some other cases.
That means that I agree with smitty.
:P
Well, that was my favorite color then, now it's cerullean blue. It'll change in about 15 minutes. <smirk>

yeah i know the lunatique thing at the bottom is supposed to be blurred but the blue makes it really hard to see. both colors independently are alright, i think, but you should probably change one so that it can be read better.
still it's cool looking..

thanx kkomafo.
And what do you think of my second wallpaper on the second page?!
Tell me...
kkomafo
10-03-2003, 10:36 AM
second wall paper is cool... if i didn't know it was for someone's birthday, though i'd wonder what's with the balloon. ..cuz the right has the swirly lines and the left has the empty space, which, to me, don't resemble anything birthday-related. (both are nice)
other than that, i think it's pretty cool.:D the color fading is nice... what side of the screen does your friend put icons on though? cuz whatever side they're not on should be the side where the date goes..
