I need some help setting up a domain on my computer.
I've set the domain name to point to my DNS and IP.
I've set up a webserver.
Now I need to get these things working together. In other words when I type "www.darfaizee.com" (which is the domain) I want it to show what I've set it to show in local web server.
I'm running Windows 2000 Pro.
I'm using the "Internet Services Manager" that came with Win2k for the webserver.
Hopefully that made sense, and thanks in advance. :)
I would recommend not doing that. Especially with our Australian ISPs. The site might also be slow for people overseas. But in any case, I have no fucking idea how to do that.

I know how to set up apache on a machine at home and connect to it via IP, but I have no idea how to point a domain to it. You might have to register it with a global DNS to get domain suppport, or use a re-direct

There is software for this kind of stuff, but anytime I have seen someone using their comp as a host, it was horrible slow. So to save everyone some time, I just suggest not doing it.

Roger That people.
i know how to do it in apache.. but not iis. i would hightly recommend NOT doing it though. if you're going to host your own site on your home computer, i would suggest only using an ip with a redirect service. unless, of course, you have the money to pay for a domain. but only give the site to friends and stuff. don't make it public. it will get hammered and your ISP will more than likely get very upset with you.

I was just wondering, whats the point of running a domain on your PC? I don't understand all this domains & servers business very well.

Get BlueWolf72 to set the shit up for you. You have that subdomain on his webspace, it's pretty much no problem to set shit up like that.

You might wanna look at a more stable OS, like Win2k Server or Windows Server 2003....
But yeah, as NMO said you could just have BlueWolf do his thing with your domain and have it point to your server...that'd probably be the best solution.
