Does anyone know how to do the equivilant of format c:\ in windows xp? ive made a ms-dos startup disk and then tried but it doesnt seem to work.

I've already got Windows XP installed but there are also partitions and shit on there that i dont want and just want to wipe the drive and reinstall xp. a clean install doesnt seem to be able to do this, it just installs it alongside the old files and partitions.

Thanks.

You don't need any startup disks.

Put in your WindowsXP disk and let the computer boot off the disk...aka, running the XP install setup.

When the computer asks you to choose which partition you want to install the OS on, you also have the option of i believe...Pressing 'L', which deletes partitions. Just read the screen, and you will see the options. When you find which key it is, it will then ask you if you really want to fully delete it and such.

After that crap..and you just have 1 partition left.... C:
Then press enter over that, and say that you want to do a full install on it. It will format your entire drive before it reinstalls windows.
